Phil Dean
Phil had experienced Hospital Radio in Bristol before moving to London in 1976.  He was working in television at the BBC, when he discovered that his colleague, Dave Culmer, shared an interest in Hospital Radio. Together they set about joining a London based Hospital Radio station and quickly settled on Guy's.

Dave concentrated on the technical side of the radio station while Phil developed his interest in programme presentation.  Like many of the presenters, Phil ran his own mobile disco and used his equipment to compliment his Hospital Radio activities.  At home he produced jingles and edited interviews for his show.

Landmark shows: “The History of Radio Guys”, a one-hour documentary featuring interviews with everyone working on the station at that time;  “Radio Guys, The Home Movie”, a mini video documentary incorporating three episodes of “Troy Masters”, written by David Beard.  Phil's music based shows included: “An hour to Phil” and “A Dose of Andrews”.

Phil has left the BBC and now works as a freelance TV Technical Manager.  He is a keen photographer, and is currently the Vice President of Ealing & Hampshire House Photographic Society.  He is a member of the Radio Society of Great Britain and The Royal Television Society.  He also composes original music to accompany his unique video productions.

May 2002.
