HISTORY |
This bus was built in 1939, and is the longest-serving bus in the country to still be working with its original owner after more than 70 years. Originally a highbridge double decker, she was used mainly on the Ryde - Newport - Cowes services. The body was converted to open top during the winter of 1958/59 for seasonal operation in the Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor area. For many years she was the regular bus on service 44 between Sandown Zoo and Shanklin Esplanade. |
